How to order a custom pet portrait

Getting a custom pastel portrait of your pet is easy! Simply fill out the contact form with your request and include your pet’s name and breed. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Sending the Best Photos
Once we connect, I’ll ask you to send high-resolution photos of your pet—sharp details make for the best painting! If your pet has passed away, please ensure the photos clearly show the eyes. The eyes bring the portrait to life! If you're unsure, send multiple images, and I’ll help choose the best ones.

The Painting Process
Once I approve the photos, I’ll start working on your portrait. When it’s finished, you’ll receive a preview for approval. After your confirmation and full payment, your artwork will be shipped the next business day with a tracking number.

Shipping & Timeline
By default, I ship with a signature requirement to ensure safe delivery. If you prefer a more budget-friendly option, let me know before finalizing the order. Commissions are completed on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you need the portrait by a specific date, please mention this when ordering. I typically complete pet portraits within 3-4 weeks, but timelines may vary depending on my workload.

How to Take the Best Photos for Your Pet Portrait

For the most stunning and lifelike pet portrait, high-quality reference photos are essential!

Natural Light is Key
The best photos are taken in natural daylight without a camera flash. Flash distorts colors and shapes, creating unnatural highlights and "ghost" eyes that don’t translate well into a painting. For the best results, take photos outdoors on a cloudy day, early in the morning, or during the golden hour in the evening. These lighting conditions bring out the rich details and soft tones that make for a beautiful portrait.

What is a High-Resolution Photo?
A high-resolution photo is a large, clear image that allows me to zoom in on fine details without blurriness or pixelation. Since I’m a realist artist, I can only paint what I see—if details are unclear, I have to guess, which affects the accuracy of the portrait.

If you’re unsure whether your photos are suitable, just reach out! I’ve worked with difficult photos before, and I’m happy to help determine if your images will work for a painting.

"Saartje" Sold (left drawing, right Picture)

A brief description of the character of your animal is appreciated so I can add more personality to my work.

I will keep you informed during the process if desired. That’s how the painting gets really personal!

Esther has drawn my two cats Billy and Saartje. The result is so lifelike! Even more beautiful than the photo.

My sisters cat Cas  is also drawn by Esther. It too was so lifelike that it brought tears to her eyes. Cas passed away a year ago.

A beautiful drawing has much more feeling than a photo.

Congratulations to Esther … unbelievable what she can do!
